OTN’s Canadian research continues to build upon earlier work established through support from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). As the ocean experiences changes due to anthropogenic stressors and natural cycles, aquatic animals are adapting to these changing conditions and altering their movements. OTN and its collaborators are addressing key scientific questions of national concern and relevance to help guide management and conservation decisions across Canada.
Operations and maintenance of the OTN infrastructure is currently funded by the Canadian Foundation for Innovation through its Major Sciences Initiatives program, and by matching partner contributions.
