Dr. Cooke is a professor of fish ecology and conservation
physiology at Carleton University in Ottawa. His research efforts focus on
understanding the interface between behaviour, physiology, and fitness in wild
fish. He is particularly interested in using interdisciplinary approaches to
inform the management and conservation of fish populations. Cooke is the
recipient of the young investigator medal from the Fisheries Society of the
British Isles and the fisheries management award from the American Fisheries
Society. He is on the editorial board of Fisheries Research and Endangered
