3rd International Conference on Fish Telemetry (ICFT) / 5th Annual OTN Canada Symposium

Information for current OTN Canada HQP

Registration

Registration is now open for the upcoming International Conference on Fish Telemetry hosted by OTN 13-17 July 2015 in Halifax, NS. Please register here and make sure to select “Current OTN HQP” to avoid double-billing OTN (your registration, travel and accommodation will be covered). Please visit the ICFT site for all conference details, including important dates, the schedule for the week, and information regarding the social events and student workshops.

Abstract Submission

There will not be a separate OTN Canada annual symposium this year, as it will be fully integrated with the ICFT. Therefore, all OTN Canada HQP are required to submit an abstract for the ICFT.

  • Abstracts will be approved as either a talk or poster
  • 1/3 of your presentation must refer to intra-network collaborations or discuss the benefits of being part of a network
  • Abstracts can be submitted here or via the ICFT site
  • Conference themes and the instructions for abstract submission can be found here

 Travel and Accommodations

Unless you are giving an oral presentation that is scheduled later in the week, HQP participation in the conference is only required from Sunday July 12 to end of day Tuesday July 14. This is to accommodate the OTN data workshop (required for all OTN Canada HQP), HQP networking event and poster session (only HQP posters), and the main ICFT poster session (all posters; Tuesday). Please note that there are other interesting and relevant workshops scheduled for Saturday July 11 and throughout the week, along with many opportunities to network with each other, international HQP, industry and government members, and other experts from around the world.

A block of rooms has been reserved on the Dalhousie campus at LeMarchant Place (1246 LeMarchant St.) beginning Saturday July 11 until Saturday July 18. These are 2 to 4 bedroom dormitory-style suites. All suite-style accommodations offer air conditioning, WIFI, private washroom facilities, kitchenettes and living space. Also included are linens, towels, and regular membership privileges to Dalplex Athletic Facility. Check-in time is 3 pm and check-out time is 10 am. If your room is not immediately available when you arrive, luggage storage arrangements can be made at the Front Desk.

Please complete the travel and accommodation form to indicate your travel dates and preferred room assignments. Forms must be submitted no later than March 15, 2015.

To directly book your travel through OTN Canada, please send your preferred itinerary to Tracy Rounds (tracy.rounds@dal.ca) no later than June 15, 2015, as we cannot guarantee that we will be able to directly book your travel after this date. If you have not forwarded an itinerary before then, you will be responsible for booking your own travel, and we ask that you do so no later than 2 weeks prior to your departure otherwise you will not be reimbursed.

All HQP are responsible for any additional expenses while travelling (i.e., meals outside of conference, taxis, etc.), which can be reimbursed by completing a travel expense claim. Expenses will not be reimbursed without the signed expense claim form, original receipts and boarding passes. Receipts are not required for per diems, but are for all other expenses. For air travel boarding passes must be submitted. NSERC policy states “Air travel must be claimed at the lowest rate available, not to exceed full economy fare.” If you plan on staying on after the conference you must produce documentation demonstrating that there is no difference in flight costs. You are responsible for any costs associated with changes to your reserved flights.
