International projects

Since 2008, OTN has been creating a unique global research, conservation and infrastructure platform that tightly integrates biological, oceanographic and social sciences; promotes technological innovation; and fosters exceptional cross-sectoral collaborations across the globe.

Since 2018, OTN has evolved to support the design, implementation, training, and data maintenance of ocean observing systems for a global network of users.

From monitoring the movements and behaviours of sharks to better inform and protect beachgoers, and supporting community-driven efforts to track commercial species, OTN is fostering international collaborations with regional relevance.

Knowledge generated through OTN’s work is used provincially, federally and internationally to help guide the management of valued aquatic species and the sustainable use of ocean and freshwater resources.
